Mystery Author

I write mysteries featuring intriguing characters taking bold risks: stories that appeal to the heart of our inner rebel and sense of justice. Off-beat situations, local color, romance, and the thrills they experience connect us to their world in ways familiar and surprising. I welcome you to fix a mug of tea, pull up a chair, and join me on a literary journey. Be forewarned, as in life, the adventures ahead could be . . . unpredictable.

Danni Mowrey became an animal welfare advocate when at college. Outspoken and fearless, she and best friend, Ella DeMarco, cofounded a brash activist group, Twin Sister. Capitalizing on its influence, they created NPK, a digital magazine that promotes compassionate living. Running two organizations meant Danni’s everyday life was often chaotic, sometimes dangerous, and always at odds with her family’s wishes. Quitting both after a series of business disagreements brought a measure of peace. Or had, until a late-night telephone call upends her world. Ella has been viciously attacked and murdered. Within days, rumors of extortion letters and past grudges spread among Danni’s new circle of friends. More troubling, a recently released slasher movie with deep ties to NPK features Ella in the role of a sadistic fiend. Its very existence threatens to ruin the credibility of all they had built together. Danni must reconnect with the people and situations she left behind to redeem Ella’s reputation. With help from police detective, Charles Boynton, she navigates a perilous road to redemption to answer the question: Is the killer friend or foe?
Something About Me

Work in Progress
In No Need to Apologize, Danni Mowrey revisited the meaning of friendship and learned that trust before truth can be deadly. Two months have passed since Ella’s murder. Still grieving, Danni is frustrated with the stalled investigation. Answers to important questions aren’t forthcoming from a gravely injured witness. A friend suggests a distraction, a recent case Danni could use her budding investigative skills and personal connections to help solve.
Dominic Waitely walked out on his wife and children one snowy day and floated to the ocean’s surface in another state a few weeks later. Danni has deeply unsettling memories of the Waitely family, but the reward for her involvement—a fourteen-acre parcel of land—is more than a little enticing. Pursuing killers and avoiding an untimely death weren’t on Danni’s New Year’s list of resolutions. Perhaps they should’ve been.
